From the Illinois border to Green Bay, Wisconsin's Ethnic Settlement Trail encompasses twelve counties along Lake Michigan. This lavishly illustrated book highlights the folk artists who have carried on traditions of their ethnic communities, from Slovak wheat weaving and African American quilting to the Alte Kamerade Band that has played German music in Freistadt, Wisconsin for more than fifty years.
Robert T. Teske is executive director of the Cedarburg Cultural Center. The Center's book, Cedarburg, 1946–1964, received a local history award of merit from the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. He received his B.A. in folklore from Harvard University and his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
